FILMING & EDITING in ICELAND CDMP231 - Short Filmmaking : On Location

This is a course at Ryerson University's G. RAYMOND CHANG SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION course in which LIFE INSTITUTE members have been invited to participate.

Living in our world exposed to constant media sources, the sharing of information informs our reality. In this production class, we are looking at media arts, using the inspiration of art and popular culture. Innovative approaches to short filmmaking will the focus of the course. Motion will be explored in a digital environment, using principally After Effects. Combining technical and theoretical components, this unique course will take advantage of various shooting locations and cultural resources available in Reykjavik and surrounding areas, during the season of twenty-four hour light. This 10 day course will include lectures, organized visits, technical workshops in After Effects and critiques of student work.
Equivalent to one Professional elective from Table I, see Undergraduate Program Calendar.

Selected short films may be entered into international short film festivals or other relevant showcases.


Fee: $2378.00 (subject to change)
Deposit $500.00 (required when registering)
*Student Interview required prior to registration.

This course will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland, commencing mid - June 2011 (June 11th – June 19th). The course fee covers course tuition, accommodation, local transit, guided tours, and entrance fees. Students are required to make their own transportation arrangements to and from Reykjavik.

Students are required to bring a laptop loaded with Adobe AfterEffects and a mini DV or digital SLR with video capture capabilities.

Older Adults are Invited for Paid Research Participation, Depratment of Psychology

Programs for 50+ in The Chang School offers older adults various opportunities to participate in research studies in the various schools and departments in Ryerson University. The following is an offering from the School of Psychology to be listed in their data bank of seniors willing to participate in any of their research studies open to you. Please feel free to contact them directly as noted if you wish to be on their lists.

Older Adults are Invited for Paid Research Participation

If you are aged 60 or above and healthy, you are invited to participate in psychology studies directed by Dr. Lixia Yang and her colleagues in the Department of Psychology at Ryerson University. These studies examine perception, cognition and thinking in people of different ages.

They involve some computerized tasks and/or paper-and-pencil questionnaires.

Participation is CONFIDENTIAL and participants will receive compensation ($10/hr) for their time and effort.
